The paintings were inspired by the reading of Foucault and the concept of power relations as well by the Hegel’s master-slave dialectic. The works are a reflection on how does the knowledge defines what’s legal, healthy, appropriate and what we (or others) can or should do with our bodies.
Since XIX century Homosexuality was a subject of rationalization, medical and juridical discourse. I juxtapose scenes from a hospital and sex. In both situations, the presented figures are subjected to external powers, subordinated.
This combination creates new associations and provokes to reflection about this relations.
